Pause Subscriptions to Reduce Churn

When customers don't need your product for some time, it's best to allow them to pause their subscription instead of canceling it outright. This will look like a churn at first, but you'll be more likely to reactivate them later. To increase your chances of reactivation, you can keep on nurturing them by sending email reminders and limited-time offers. You can also let them set a date for the plan to automatically reactivate. It's important to avoid dark patterns (hiding the cancellation button, having to write in to cancel, being bombarded with surveys and offers...) as these will guarantee that your churn customers will never return.

How to implement
  1. Create a feature that allows customers to pause their subscription instead of canceling it outright.
  2. Send email reminders and limited-time offers to customers who have paused their subscription.
  3. Allow customers to set a date for their subscription to automatically reactivate.
  4. Avoid dark patterns such as hiding the cancellation button, having to write in to cancel, and bombarding customers with surveys and offers.
